ECDE stands for Early Childhood Development and Education. ECDE is a branch of education theory that relates to the teaching of young children from birth to 8yrs. This is equivalent to teaching pre-primary one (PP1) to Grade 3. The course entails physical, psychological, cognitive and social development that a child experiences from conception to birth to school-going age up to 8yrs.
Admission Requirements
Certificate | KCSE D+ KCE Division IV P2 Teachers Training Certificate or KCPE Certificate with a pass in ECDE Certificate |
Duration | Four-[4] terms [1 ½ years] for regulars or 6 terms [semester/holidays] for school based |
Diploma | KCSE C Plain KCE Division III Primary Teacher Education [PTE] Teachers Training Certificate KCE Division III and Kenya Advance Certificate of Education [KACE-A-Level] Certificate with a Minimum of one [1] principal. |

Syllabus
The college offers one and a half year course for Regular students or 6 semester/holidays school based students. Each level has 24 Units to be covered including Teaching Practice to accomplish the course.

Why ECDE for KNEC?
It enables one to get the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) number which is a mandatory requirement from the Ministry of Education to all Teachers.
